At the hockey tournament conducted by the council for the Indian school certificate examination, New Delhi, at Bangalore, the under 14, under 17 and under 19 divisions played Nation Level Hockey.

Participation was from all the states in India, to name a few Andhra, Telengana, Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Bihar and Punjab.

In the under 14 division team, Tamil Nadu entered the finals and won the championship 5 goals to 1

Thirteen out of eighteen players, who made team Tamil Nadu, are from Crescent Castle Public School, Ooty.

The other five are from other schools affiliated to the council.

As a team maximum participation was from Crescent and they brought glory to Tamil Nadu, at the National Level.

Similarly the under 19 division had maximum participation from Crescent, with a few from the other schools affiliated to the council.

Here again team Tamil Nadu entered the national level finals and finished as worthy runner up.

The National winners of the under 14, and under 19 division, were awarded with the championship in Karnataka.

On their return they were accorded a jubilant welcome by the Crescentians.

At this National level Hockey Tournament special mention must be made of the 27 students of Crescent Castle, Ooty, who made it to the 3 divisions of team Tamil Nadu.

Out of 27 students, seven of them have been selected for their outstanding performance, to play for the Sports and Games federation of India (Khelo India)

It was a moment of pride for the Parents and School Management, as the team brought laurels while playing Indian’s national Game.

Mr. Gopi the Hockey Coach at Crescent was appreciated for his hard work and guidance.
